About Dr. Saferin
Dr. Saferin obtained his undergraduate degree from West Virginia University in Morgantown
and, in 1971, earned his medical degree at Meharry Medial College, Nashville, Tennessee. Upon
completion of an internship at Cincinnati General Hospital
Dr. Saferin continued his training in general surgery with a residency at the Medical College of Ohio
Hospital. He concluded his formal training with a two-year residency in plastic surgery at St. Charles
Hospital and Riverside Hospital with a two-year residency in plastic surgery at Wayne State University
affiliated hospitals.
A native Ohioan and father of five, Dr. Saferin is board of directors’ chairman and president of
Toledo Plastic Surgeons Center. He formerly served as chief of plastic surgery at St. Charles
Hospital and Riverside hospital. He is assistant clinical professor at the Medical College of Ohio Hospital.
Dr. Saferin is certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery, the only specialty board recognized by
the American Board of Specialists for certifying plastic surgeons. He also maintains a certification in Advanced
Cardiac Life Support.
Dr. Saferin is a fellow of the American College of Surgeons, F.A.C.S., the leading professional surgical
organization, and members of both the American Society of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeons, Inc. and the
American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery, Inc.
